Manifesto

Make great business decisions ordinary.

Finance has always been close to the most important decisions in a company. It sees the numbers, understands the economics, and often has a unique view across the business. Yet the people with that perspective still spend too much of their time assembling information rather than applying judgment.

Companies hire exceptional finance talent: analytical, curious, highly educated people with the ability to understand how a business really works. Too often, we then place them in environments where much of their day is spent reconciling spreadsheets, finding data, rebuilding reports and stitching together information from disconnected systems. The tools may have improved at the edges, but the underlying way of working has changed surprisingly little.

At the same time, the demands on finance have grown enormously. Businesses operate in a world of faster cycles, tighter competition, geopolitical shocks, volatile costs and constant technological change. Management teams need to understand what is happening, why it is happening, where the business is heading and what should be done next. They need answers quickly, but they also need to trust them.

The mandate of the CFO has evolved with that reality. Finance is no longer expected simply to report what happened. It is increasingly involved in strategy, capital allocation, commercial decisions, transformation, governance and performance. We expect finance teams to become true business partners, yet we have not given them the information environment or the tools required to operate that way.

That is the gap we are building Quivv to close.

The best finance work rarely begins with a report. It begins with a question. Why is a margin moving? Which customers are changing behavior? What happens if demand falls? Where should we invest? What should we stop doing? The value of finance comes from connecting the numbers to the wider reality of the business and bringing that understanding into the room while there is still time to act.

The ledger remains fundamental, but it is only part of the story. The context needed to make a good decision lives across operational data, plans, market information, contracts, organizational knowledge, historical decisions and the experience accumulated inside a company. For decades, bringing all of that together has been difficult, expensive and slow.

We believe that is changing.

Advances in AI and data engineering make it possible to organize and interpret information in ways that were previously impractical. We can begin to build systems that understand not only the numbers, but also the language, structures, definitions and economic logic of a company. That opens the door to AI agents that can investigate performance, surface drivers, test assumptions and help finance teams move from a business question to a useful answer far faster than before.

But speed alone is not enough. Finance operates in an environment where plausibility cannot substitute for truth. Numbers must reconcile. Sources must be traceable. Permissions, controls and security matter. People need to understand where an answer came from and why it can be trusted. The opportunity, as we see it, is to combine the flexibility and intelligence of AI with the rigor that serious financial decision-making requires.

We are starting with industrial companies because few environments make this need more obvious. Their economics span plants, products, customers, geographies, capacity, materials, working capital and capital investment and much more. Their decisions are interconnected, their data is fragmented, and the cost of acting too late can be significant. In these businesses, understanding what is changing earlier can become a real competitive advantage.

Our mission is simple:

“to help companies make better business decisions, faster and with confidence.”

And our vision is larger than automating finance work. We want to make great business decisions ordinary.

Not dependent on heroic effort. Not dependent on one analyst knowing where the right spreadsheet sits. Not dependent on spending days assembling the context before the real thinking can begin.

We want finance teams to have the information, context and tools they need when the decision is actually being made. We want exceptional people spending more of their time understanding, challenging and shaping the business, and less of it moving information between systems.

That is what we are building Quivv for: a new foundation for high-performance finance teams, and a trusted platform for the decisions that move companies forward.
